OVERVIEW

The ALCO in a bank should be the most strategic committee and an essential part of effective bank governance infrastructure and capability. The 3-day, Intermediate ALM Masterclass covers key aspects of bank asset and liability management (ALM) and follows on the success of a number of ALM training sessions held for a number of banks in Johannesburg and a number of countries in Africa for upcoming ALM practitioners. Recent regulatory reforms, including in particular the 'New Global Liquidity Standard' added to global banking requirements (Basel regulations) will be discussed and analysed. Other key aspects of ALM including balance sheet and capital structure & management will also be covered. The implications of Basel regulations for bank strategic and business growth planning will be a point of focus. The course gives participants hands on experience in making ALM decisions through the use of a number of intermediate case studies.

The course is divided into conceptual and practical concept implementation sessions.
